Image Resizer lets you resize images to exact pixel dimensions or by percentage scale, with optional aspect ratio lock to prevent distortion. Resizing images before uploading them to websites, apps, or social media reduces bandwidth usage and improves load times. All resizing happens in-browser using Canvas API — no server upload required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will resizing to a larger size improve image quality?

No. Upscaling (making an image larger) does not add detail — it only interpolates (guesses) pixel values between existing ones, resulting in blurriness. True quality improvement requires starting from a higher-resolution source. Downscaling (making smaller) generally looks good as it averages pixel information.

How do I resize to fit social media platform requirements?

Common sizes: Twitter/X header 1500×500px; Facebook cover 820×312px; Instagram post 1080×1080px (square); LinkedIn banner 1584×396px; YouTube thumbnail 1280×720px. Enter the required dimensions and enable aspect ratio lock to fit without distortion (the tool will auto-calculate the locked dimension).

What is bicubic vs. nearest-neighbour resampling?

Bicubic (and bilinear) resampling blends neighbouring pixels for smooth transitions — best for photos. Nearest-neighbour copies the closest pixel value without blending — best for pixel art where you want sharp, blocky edges. This tool uses the browser's Canvas API which applies bilinear filtering by default.

Can I resize a batch of images at once?

The current version processes one image at a time. For batch resizing, you can repeat the process for each image, or use a desktop tool like ImageMagick (command-line) or GIMP's batch mode.
